Time of my life.

There are the awesome days that are jam packed with people, and then there are the awesome days where you do literally nothing except hang out with your best friend.

Today was one of those days.. We woke up around 11, ate breakfast in bed, watched a few episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, ate lunch in bed, and just lounged until late in the afternoon.. just in time to get up and have dinner with the Porchs!
..So perfect.

I'm working on getting a few more things made and in the shop this week, here's the pillow I finished last night.
I used a really soft tshirt for the back of it.. feels so nice :)

And this is the painting I'm working on.. still got a ways to go but it's getting there.

Giveaways are the best.

(Especially when you win! Eee!)
..Considering the fact that:
a. I never win anything I enter and
b. I LOVE papersparrow .. I am super excited!

I picked the 8x10 print of "The Picnic"
The Picnic - 8x10 Print
Dont you love it?

Soo other than that exciting news I don't have much else to say. I'm working on a pretty big painting for a friend of mine, but I think I'll stop and take a break later to work on a project. Pictures to come of both.

Sometimes, I bake.

Rarely do I cook dinner foods.. mainly just some french toast every now and then and desserts. Tonight I made the Pioneer Woman's coffee cake.. and it turned out so delicious!

Do any of you celebrate the Summer Solstice? My sister in law and her husband throw a party every year with homemade ice cream, fruit kabobs, and volleyball. It's so much fun! .. possibly my favorite party of the year.

Since we just celebrated the first day of summer, today couldn't have felt more appropriate. Danny had a huge lawn to mow so I helped for a few minutes by watering some flowers.. then spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool :)

Love you, Dad!

Today was a really good day.. I had a delicious lunch with my dad, grandma, and Danny. Then he helped me build some canvases.. what would I do without that man and his power tools? Pay 50 bucks for a big canvas from Hobby Lobby? I dont think so!
A few things I love about him:
He makes delicious food.
He tears up when he talks about the baseball player who was cheated out of a perfect game.
He lets me use his staple gun and air compressed tools whenever I want.

Thanks, Dad!

We saw Toy Story 3 last night.. I know you've already heard this, but can I just say it one more time? ..So good! I laughed the entire time (besides when I was crying).. go see it if you haven't already, it'll be the best movie you watch all summer.

Something else that took me back a few years, I got the new Hanson cd today.. Which is also so good. And this video makes me smile every time.

Here's to dads, childhood memories, and boy bands.

Quick Post.

We're house sitting for my mom this weekend and even though it's kind of nice getting away from an apartment for a weekend and having a back yard and a porch and room to breathe, I always miss our home. (That's a good thing I guess, it means I like it there.)

My sweet friend Laura's birthday was not too long ago, so I made her a little present. She's into all things Irish, so I tried to make her an "L" with a Keltic knot. Yeah?

Also, I added a new print to the shop today! It was an old design that I revamped a bit, check it out here.

I hope everyone's having a good weekend! I'm looking forward to Father's Day tomorrow.. my dad loves to cook so he would rather make a delicious feast for us than go out to eat. (I'm secretly hoping for steak.)

Floating the river.

Have you guys read about The Sketchbook Project?
For $25 you'll receive a moleskin sketchbook.. you have until March to fill it up and make it your own, then you send it back and, along with thousands of other books from around the world, they go on tour. They're exhibited in art museums in Austin, San Francisco, Portland.. and they each have a unique barcode so that you can look online and see how many times yours was pulled from the shelf.
How awesome is that?

Sketchbook

These are some pictures I was going through from last summer when we "floated" the Canadian River.. It hadn't rained in forever and it was so dry that our raft wouldn't even float... Danny had to drag it. It was very enjoyable.. for me :)

Exciting news! A friend recently told me about Allie and she did a feature post on me today.. she has the sweetest blog and what's even better.. she's from Oklahoma! I just love finding fellow creative Oklahomans. Go check it out, you'll love her.

The sun is finally out!

I kept track of every single thing I ate the whole week, including how many glasses of water I drank to how much sugar I put in my coffee. I'm sure that if I was doing a legit scientific experiment I would have to keep track for much longer t
han a week, but I still learned quite a few things. For starters, the assumption that I've had for awhile that caffeine is what causes my headaches seems to be true. The days that I started off with coffee first thing in the morning, I didn't get one.. but the days where I didn't drink it until later I could definitely feel it. Sleep was also a contributing factor. There was one day I stayed up all night and then slept 3 hours in the afternoon, and one night that I slept more than 8 hours.. I felt terrible both days.

It also made me aware of what I'm eating. Every time I had to write down "Tbell 5 Layer Burrito" I was a little grossed out. And every time I realized that the number of Dr Peppers I had significantly outweighted the amount of water
I drank, I was a little bit more grossed out.

SO if nothing else, keeping track of everything I ate has inspired me to drink more water, eat less Taco Bell, and drink my coffee right when I wake up :)

In other news, have you ever heard of Art Wall? It's a virtual house of sorts that has art hanging in every room and leads you to the artist's shop so you can purchase it for your own home. I've been a long time fan and now one of my prints is hanging on the porch :) Check it out here!
Hope you all have stayed dry during these past few rainy days.

In my dreams.

My obsession with airstream trailers probably started while I was in Austin a few weeks ago, and has been continuously growing ever since. Now I have Danny obsessed so between the two of us we're going to need at least 4 of them to satisfy all of our dreams.

1) My arts and crafts studio
2) Danny's recording studio
3) For living in/traveling
4) A hotdog stand (or some other mobile business.. hotdogs would just be pretty cool)

Seriously though, we want one.
Our dream right now is to buy an old one, refurbish it, and live in the middle of the redwood forest.
That's possible.
Right? :)

Whhhaa!

I was featured on Etsy's frontpage for the first time tonight and let me tell you what.. I freaked out! I'm just so happy I can barely stand it.

It was definitely a lesson learned.. Up until this point I've only been listing my prints with "1 in stock". Well, this little guy sold in just a few minutes and if I would've had 2 in stock it would've stayed there for the rest of the feature time, but my spot was automatically filled once it sold. SO for all you newbies out there like me, learn from my mistake and list at least 2 prints at a time.

But I'm still pumped :)

Flower Power.

That was my motto from about 2nd grade through the rest of my childhood.
(Pretty sure it still is my motto.)

That's why this is so amazing.
Apparently a few years ago in New York City, this organization brought kids together from different schools and hospitals to paint decals to stick on taxis. It gave them something fun to do while teaching them teamwork and commitment, plus they got to see their results drive by them every day.
..That would make sitting in traffic behind a taxi so much more pleasant if it had flowers on it..

Father's Day

Father's Day and Mother's Day always sneak up on me.. this year I've tried to make a conscious decision to at least remember enough in advance to make them a
cute card or something. I made this little card for my dad, and I'm also selling it for other dads in my shop :)

My sister and I are planning on packing a picnic and taking Dad on a little afternoon fishing trip.. And we're bringing Danny along with us so my dad can relax and not have to rebait our hooks every five seconds, that can be Danny's job this time :)
