Great Week.

For those of you who are married and out of the house, or the ones that live at school and only go home during the summer, you'll know what I'm talking about.. sometimes you just need a good, solid week of family time.

This past week we've been at Grand Lake for my mom's wedding and it was just so much fun.. filled with relaxing days by the pool, fishing, tubing, pineapple smoothies, and catching up on Pretty Little Liars with my sister.

Last night.. dinner out on the town

We're finally home and I'm excited to sleep in my own bed, clean the apartment, and work on a few projects I've been thinking about (one being the headboard I blogged about last week! So excited to start that one!)

Found it.

After a year of not knowing what to do for my headboard, I've found it!

I've always loved the look of these pieces, I just needed a good tutorial and a little push.. Where's my phone? I need to call my dad and tell him I have a new project for him to do.

Quick Hello.

The past few days we've been camping with some friends. We got home today just in time to catch SYTYCD and Work of Art, sleep, get a few things done tomorrow, then head out to the lake again with my fam. Thought I would post a few pics of our camping trip and maybe leave you with one of my favorite SYTYCD dances of the night.. enjoy :)

Bouteniere, Boutonniere, Buttonear?

I'm pretty sure that's the hardest word to spell without using spell check.

I made the boutonnieres for our wedding:

So my friend Natalie asked me to make some for her wedding. I'm doing them almost the same way but I'm throwing a little fake flower in there, using a button, and sewing a big leaf instead of having two bendy leaves:

They're really fun for me to make.. I'm trying to figure out if I think there would be a market for them on Etsy?

We're leaving for a camping trip with the Porchs tomorrow, coming home Wednesday, leaving Friday for the lake with my family for the entire next week, then coming home just in time to deliver these bouts and get to the wedding!

....Just writing all that kind of stresses me out.

Everything about it is so so perfect. That vintage chair, it's clean, simple, retro, organized.. Ahhh! When I get a real job (if I ever get a real job) and I'm making real money, the first thing I'm going to save for and buy is an old trailer.

You just watch. I'm gonna do it.

Yesterday I went over to my dad's and he helped me build some wood boxes to paint on, pretty much like wooden canvases. I used the saw by myself and let me tell you, it was so much fun..

There's really nothing that beats building things together with my dad, or craft nights with my friends.. I just love making things with people I love!

So I know you've read a lot about this painting and you're probably thinking "blah blah enough already." But it just felt so good to get back into my paints and do something this big. I took some better pictures in good lighting and I just wanted to share.. last ones, I promise.

He started a little blog awhile back and his latest post is about our nocturnal lifestyle and first kiss. It's so ridiculous and funny.

Goal for the week:

Buy hangers to hang at least three of Danny's instruments up. So practical, looks pretty cool, and saves us some space. (much needed space.)

It would also be really great to get our room cleaned and possibly find a headboard of some sort. (that's one of those things I put off because it seems like a big decision, but it's really not.) Look at how refreshing and light this room is.

I've listed some new prints, including one of my "Better Together" painting.

Also, I think I'm almost finished with the painting I've been working on! I don't normally do paintings that are more abstract so this has been different.. I even made a stencil and spray painted it on there with gold paint, pretty fun :)

When it rains it pours.

Literally. The whole state of Oklahoma is in another flood watch.. I'm just thankful we're on the second floor, because the draining system here is the worst.

So I was experimenting tonight, and guess what? I figured out how to print on fabric! You know what that means right? I can put tags on my pillows and owls! Wooo.. (sorry for getting so excited about tags) Pictures to come later.

Necklace DIY.

Eee this was SO fun to make!

I followed the tutorial from Melissa's blog and it only took about an hour.. I'm planning on making it for my friend's birthday presents (uhh.. so cover your eyes) and I think it'll only take 30 minutes when I get the hang of it.

It's awesome because it's cheap (I paid $1 for the tshirt from Goodwill!) and there are a lot of ways to customize it.. color, thickness, how many braids, etc.

I hope you all make one and have as much fun as I did!

Better Together

This week has been full of swimming, friends, new paintings, and fishing adventures.

Can I just brag for a minute and say that I caught the first fish within two minutes of being there? (Even though I'm too scared to grab them :)
