Projects galore.

Even though I'm SWAMPED with school I've managed to squeeze in a few projects on the side.. owls here and there, a painting every now and then, and some invitation orders. I made my future sister in law, Taylor's wedding invitations.. I think they turned out pretty cute, but I don't want to post them until she's had a chance to reveal them :)

I designed baby shower invites for another friend, and it was super fun!.. Now I'm itching to make more :)
Designed some buttons for my shop..
Started learning how to "paint" with my tablet..
(which can also be found in my shop)

Not to mention I even had time to whip up the most successful meal I've ever made! (don't be fooled by the word "successful". It doesn't mean hard or innovative or anything like that. It means cheap, delicious, fed 5 people, and was approved by Danny's picky taste buds).
Recipe found here
except I substituted pizza crust for flaky biscuits :)

In a different world.

As I was zoning out in class the other day, I thought about what my life would be like if it were the complete opposite of what it is now. Mainly I started thinking about what if I did all the things I hate/ dont do but wish I did.
It cracked me up so I thought I'd share my fictional morning routine:

I wake up promptly at 6:00 am when my alarm goes off (the first time) and slip into my running shoes. I make my way into the kitchen, pour myself some soy milk, and sit at the kitchen table to plan out my day. After some light stretching I grab my Ipod, put on some classic rock, and head out the door for my 5 mile run (as I'm jogging around campus I think about how much I love morning time.. I love getting up while the rest of the world is still asleep). I come home to take a shower and get ready, and what do I find? Danny sleeping in, skipping his classes again (he's always being lazy like that). After I literally drag him out of bed and make him go to class, I head out to my favorite class of the day: Calc II.

HA! So that's my morning, maybe I'll share my afternoon sometime.

Haven't really had time to blog or think about anything other than school for the past few weeks. This is one of many things I've been working on:
It's my first illustration for my illustration class. Which, by the way, I am loving so much.

PS- This post is dedicated to my mom (since apparently you read my blog now :)

When it rains it pours.

Literally. The whole state of Oklahoma is in another flood watch.. I'm just thankful we're on the second floor, because the draining system here is the worst.

So I was experimenting tonight, and guess what? I figured out how to print on fabric! You know what that means right? I can put tags on my pillows and owls! Wooo.. (sorry for getting so excited about tags) Pictures to come later.

New painting in the shop:
Speaking of which, I sold my first original painting from my shop today! I'm so excited about that.

The sun is finally out!

I kept track of every single thing I ate the whole week, including how many glasses of water I drank to how much sugar I put in my coffee. I'm sure that if I was doing a legit scientific experiment I would have to keep track for much longer t
han a week, but I still learned quite a few things. For starters, the assumption that I've had for awhile that caffeine is what causes my headaches seems to be true. The days that I started off with coffee first thing in the morning, I didn't get one.. but the days where I didn't drink it until later I could definitely feel it. Sleep was also a contributing factor. There was one day I stayed up all night and then slept 3 hours in the afternoon, and one night that I slept more than 8 hours.. I felt terrible both days.

It also made me aware of what I'm eating. Every time I had to write down "Tbell 5 Layer Burrito" I was a little grossed out. And every time I realized that the number of Dr Peppers I had significantly outweighted the amount of water
I drank, I was a little bit more grossed out.

SO if nothing else, keeping track of everything I ate has inspired me to drink more water, eat less Taco Bell, and drink my coffee right when I wake up :)

In other news, have you ever heard of Art Wall? It's a virtual house of sorts that has art hanging in every room and leads you to the artist's shop so you can purchase it for your own home. I've been a long time fan and now one of my prints is hanging on the porch :) Check it out here!
Hope you all have stayed dry during these past few rainy days.

Self Portrait

I'm currently in my first photography class and its been an experience to say the least.
This year especially I've had to really get used to my teachers critiques and learn from them, but at the same time don't lose myself in what they want me to do. Art is so subjective. Each teacher has a specific style they like and in order to get a good grade I have to try to please every one individually, it's a bit exhausting. Maybe that's how it is in the real design world? Probably so.
Anywaayy, here's my 3rd photography project: Self portrait.

Inspired by my 60's- 70's style... and by my Orla Kiely tablecloth that I have hanging on my kitchen wall :)

Long time coming.

I have wanted to open my Etsy shop for over a year, and I have finally taken the time to get it going! I'm so excited to start this whole thing and keep it going.. not only is it awesome to think about the possibility of making a sale, but it also motivates me to continue making things in my free time.

A few items you'll find

Little owl pin

Red Light Love print

Tree of Spools

I'm hoping to get more posted this week, but I'm currently working on so many projects for school that I don't know which way is up. Do you know what I mean? Sometimes so much creativity is demanded from me and I just can't keep up with it all. But! I love it and I wouldn't have it any other way.
